German Sausage and Cabbage Skillet

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned. Transfer to a plate.

Add the onion to the same skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened and beginning to caramelize.

Stir in the cabbage, apple, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is wilted and tender.

Return the sausage to the pan along with the apple cider vinegar. Cook for 2-3 minutes more, tossing to combine, until everything is glazed and heated through.

Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot straight from the skillet.

Notes

  • Look for a bratwurst or kielbasa with a clean ingredient list to keep this dish gluten-free.
  • A dab of whole-grain mustard on the side is a great tangy addition.
